Feeding the OCD - Organizing Floss for the Project

Finally received my floss organizer in the mail today. I was spending more time finding the thread colours that I needed, than actually stitching. Yey, no more tangled thread mess!!

It was so satisfying to organize everything! I have one bone to pick with DMC though, if you organize the threads by numbers ( easiest to find ) , then your colours are not in any logical order; if you organize by colour, the numbers are not sequential. I know this will drive me nuts. For now I organized mostly by colour, as visually it just looks so much prettier. I'm quite happy with the result.  :)

Cluny Tapestry Rabbit - A good start!

Finished my first 400 stitches today!

I'm liking the results so far. Most of the threads are a mixture of two different DMC floss colours, a few of the shades are one or two stitches each, which is making it quite a bit more tedious (44 colours used so far!) , but it's resulting in a more rich pattern.

Cluny Tapestry Rabbit

I started a new cross stitch project a few days ago and decided that it might be a good time to start a blog to keep track of some of my ongoing projects.

I have always admired the detail and amount of time put into intricate Medieval tapestries, and since I have some time right now, wanted to do a smaller project to see if it's something I want to delve into more ambitiously. I have also been feeling in a bit of an artistic rut recently, and am hoping a guided project will help inspire more creativity.

The design I chose is a detail of the late 1400th century Cluny Tapestries, Lady with Unicorn. The design is by Scarlet quince.

Pattern : http://www.scarletquince.com/pat.php?pat=UNK014-D2

126 x 153 stitches, 9"x11", using DMC floss on an offwhite evenweave cotton fabric.

The amount of colours needed was a bit intimidating when I got all of them out, wish me luck!
